Fluorene Myristate, also known as N-Myristoyl Fluorene-9-Carboxylic Acid or Fluorene-9-Carboxylic Acid N-Myristoyl Amide, is a synthetic compound made by esterifying myristic acid with fluorene carboxylic acid. It is a white or off-white, powdery solid with a molecular formula of C27H31NO2.
Fluorene Myristate is produced through a reaction between myristic acid and fluorene carboxylic acid, in the presence of a catalyst and heat. The esterification reaction forms an ester bond, resulting in the formation of a Myristoyl Fluorene compound. The product is then purified through various techniques such as crystallization, recrystallization, and distillation to obtain the desired purity. The final product is then dried and milled to obtain a powdery form.
