Lucuma is a type of fruit that is native to South America, particularly Peru, Chile, and Ecuador. It is also grown in other countries such as New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa. The fruit is harvested from the tree known as Pouteria lucuma, which is part of the Sapotaceae family. The fruit is usually available from August to December.
The production of Lucuma involves the harvesting of the mature fruit. The fruit is then washed, peeled, and the seeds are removed. It is then sliced and dried at low temperatures to retain its nutritional value and flavor. Once dried, it is ground into a powder and packaged for sale.
