Production & Sourcing

Flaxseed, also known as linseed, is a small, brown or golden colored seed that comes from the flax plant. It has been cultivated for thousands of years, with evidence of its use dating back to ancient Egypt. Flaxseed is primarily grown in Canada, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, and the United States, with Canada being the largest producer. The flax plant is an annual plant that grows up to 4 feet tall and produces beautiful, blue flowers. The seeds are harvested in late summer or early fall by either pulling the entire plant or by cutting off the seeds at the base of the plant. Once harvested, the seeds are dried and cleaned to remove any impurities.
