The green coffee beans are harvested from the coffee plant, which typically produces fruit known as "coffee cherries". These cherries usually contain two coffee beans in their center, which are the seeds of the plant. The coffee beans are extracted from the cherries through a process known as wet or dry processing. Wet processing involves soaking the cherries in water and removing the outer layers through a mechanical pulping process.
