Irish Moss Powder is a dehydrated form of Irish moss, made by drying and grinding the red algae Chondrus crispus, which belongs to the Gigartinaceae family. This powder retains the natural properties and nutrients of fresh Irish moss. It is a convenient, shelf-stable alternative to fresh Irish moss, offering a fine, powdery texture that can be easily incorporated into various applications. Often used in smoothies, baking, and as a thickening agent in food, it adds a mild flavor and preserves the natural properties of the algae.

---|
Irish moss, or carrageen moss, is a red algae native to the Atlantic coasts of Europe and North America. Primarily harvested in Ireland, it is also found in Scotland, Canada, and the United States. Traditionally gathered by hand during low tide, modern harvesting now often uses tractors with rakes for efficiency.
Post-harvest, the moss is washed to remove impurities and then dried—either sun-dried or air-dried—to maintain its color and nutrients. Finally, it is milled into powder or flakes for packaging and distribution.
