Product Description

L-Carnitine is a non-essential, branched amino acid that can be produced by the body, with its synthesis depending on two other essential amino acids, lysine, and methionine. Deficiency in certain nutrients like ascorbic acid, ferrous iron, pyridoxine, and niacin can potentially impact carnitine levels in the body. Although it can be produced internally, carnitine is also found in dietary sources, primarily from animal products. In certain situations of high energy demand, the body's production might not meet the requirement, making L-carnitine a conditionally essential nutrient.

Product Use

Production & Sourcing

Carnitine, also known as L-carnitine, is an amino acid derivative that plays an important role in the metabolism of fatty acids. It is naturally produced in the body, mainly in the liver and kidneys, and can also be obtained from dietary sources. Carnitine is involved in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are broken down to produce energy. Carnitine is produced in the body by the amino acids lysine and methionine. It can also be obtained from dietary sources, primarily from animal products such as meat, fish, and dairy. Vegetarians and vegans may have lower levels of carnitine in their body as these sources are not present in their diet. Synthetic carnitine supplements are also available, which are produced in a laboratory.
