L-SELENIUM METHIONINE
Main Producing Countries |
China, France, Japan and United States
|
Product Use |
Methionine, a crucial amino acid, is produced through two main methods: chemical synthesis and microbial fermentation.
Chemical synthesis involves the reaction of acrolein with hydrogen sulfide and ammonia, yielding methionine. While cost-effective and suitable for large-scale production, it generates significant waste.
Microbial fermentation utilizes bacteria like Corynebacterium glutamicum to ferment carbohydrates into methionine. While environmentally friendly with reduced waste, it demands higher expenses and specialized equipment.
Commercially, methionine primarily originates from industrial fermentation facilities.
