Product Use |
Magnesium Caprylate, also known as magnesium caprate or magnesium octanoate, is a magnesium salt of caprylic acid. Caprylic acid is a medium-chain fatty acid that is naturally present in coconut oil, palm oil, and human breast milk. To obtain magnesium caprylate, caprylic acid is first reacted with magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide, and then the resulting product is purified to remove any impurities. The final product is a white, odorless, and tasteless powder.
Magnesium caprylate is produced mainly in China and India. These countries have a large supply of coconut oil, which is the primary source of caprylic acid. The oil is extracted from dried coconut meat and then processed to obtain caprylic acid. Other sources of caprylic acid, such as palm oil and human breast milk, are also used for production. The caprylic acid is then reacted with magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide, which also have a readily available supply in these countries. The production process is relatively simple and cost-effective, making magnesium caprylate easily accessible for various industries.
