It is an aromatic herb, also known as sweet marjoram that belongs to the family Lamiaceae. It is native to the Mediterranean region and western Asia. Carotenoids, flavonoids, carnitine, choline, coenzyme Q, dithiolthiones, phytosterol, phytoestrogens, glucosinolates, polyphenols, and taurine are bioactive components present in marjoram leaves. It is very nutritious that contains a good amount of fiber, protein, vitamin A, K, folate, magnesium, and potassium. It is a good source of antioxidants that neutralize oxidative stress.
