Product Use

Production & Sourcing

Pineapple is a tropical fruit native to South America. Today, it is primarily produced in Central and South America, but also grown in other tropical regions such as Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and Africa. The production of pineapples is an important industry, providing employment and revenue for many developing countries. Most pineapples are produced through large-scale plantations that utilize modern farming techniques to ensure a high yield and quality fruit.
Sourcing of pineapples typically involves selecting the best cultivars for planting, which are then propagated either through vegetative. Once the pineapples are ready for harvest, they are carefully hand-picked to ensure that only ripe fruit is selected. Pineapples that are intended for processing or canning are harvested when they are slightly underripe, while those intended for fresh consumption are picked at the peak of maturity.

Description

Pineapple, named ‘the king of fruit’ because of its crown of leaves, is now produced throughout the tropical and subtropical areas, representing an important horticultural industry. Due to its attractive sweet flavor, pineapple is widely consumed as a fresh and canned fruit, as well as in processed juices and as an ingredient in exotic foods [2].Pineapple fruit powder is characterized by its fine texture and light yellow to golden color, which can vary slightly depending on the drying method and the maturity of the pineapples used. It possesses a strong, characteristic pineapple aroma that is sweet, tangy, and reminiscent of fresh pineapple, indicating the presence of volatile aromatic compounds retained during the drying process. The flavor profile of the powder mirrors that of the fresh fruit, offering a vibrant, tropical taste that is both sweet and slightly acidic, making it a desirable ingredient for enhancing the flavor of various culinary applications. When dry, the powder is fine and free-flowing, and upon rehydration, it dissolves well in liquids, maintaining a smooth consistency without clumping.
