This Senna plant belongs to the family Fabaceae. It is native to Egypt, Sudan, and Nigeria. Sennosides are the major bioactive component present in these leaves. It also has good nutritional value. Potent antioxidants are also present in a quite good amount in these leaves that combat oxidative stress and support cells from severe damage like DNA damage. These leaves have medicinal properties. Senna leaves are used as tea by some people.
