Also known as a grainy apple that belongs to the family Punicaceae. This plant is native to Iran, the United States, Chile. Ellagitannins, Hydroxycinnamic acids, Hydroxybenzoic acids, Flavons, Flavonol-3-ols, Anthocyanidins, and Anthocyanins are the major bioactive components present in this fruit. This fruit powder contains a good amount of fiber, vitamin C, K, B, and minerals like potassium, calcium, and iron are very essential for the body. Though it contains a high amount of polyphenolic compounds that help in reducing oxidative stress. Intake of this fruit as raw or as a dietary supplement is good for heart, brain, gut, and kidney health.
