          Prunus cerasus (sour cherry, tart cherry) is a species of rosid dicot genus within the taxon Cerasus (cherries), which is found abundantly in Europe and southwest Asia. The necessary colourless polyphenols of tart cherries are neochlorogenic acid, 3-coumaroylquinic acid, and chlorogenic acid. However, they are less bioactive. The flavanols, catechin, epicatechin, procyanidins B1 and B2, are some of the necessary bioactive compounds.
