Goldenberries, also known as Cape gooseberries or Incan berries, are small, golden-colored fruits native to the Andean regions of South America, primarily cultivated in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. Traditionally grown in family gardens or small farms, they are cultivated using eco-friendly practices like crop rotation and natural pest control.
Goldenberries are perennial plants, reaching up to two meters in height. Propagated from seeds or cuttings, they produce 1-2 cm diameter fruits covered in a delicate, paper-like husk. Hand-picked when fully ripe, harvesting spans from May to September in South America. Post-harvest, fruits undergo washing, sorting, and packaging in processing facilities before export.
