Guayusa (Ilex guayusa) is a holly tree native to the Amazon rainforest, predominantly found in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia. Related to yerba mate and yaupon, it has been a traditional herbal tea for indigenous communities for centuries.
Guayusa is sustainably farmed in the Amazon. The leaves are hand-picked from trees that can grow up to 30 meters tall. After harvesting, the leaves are dried over an open fire, imparting a distinct earthy aroma and flavor, then ground into a fine powder for tea.
Sourcing involves partnerships with local farmers who use eco-friendly methods, avoiding synthetic chemicals and pesticides. This ensures the sustainability of guayusa trees and preserves the leaves' natural flavor and aroma.
