Calcium ascorbate is a compound that is used as a source of both calcium and vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in dietary supplements. Calcium ascorbate is created by combining ascorbic acid with calcium carbonate. The resulting product is a calcium salt of ascorbic acid that is neutral, making it less acidic. Calcium and ascorbic acid are linked together, allowing the body to absorb each component separately.
