Commonly known as Chia, is a type of blooming plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae, local to Southern Mexico. It is considered a pseudocereal, developed for its palatable, hydrophilic chia seed, grown, and regularly utilized as food. Chia seeds contain polyunsaturated fats, dietary fiber, proteins, nutrients, and a few minerals. Other than this, the seeds are a superb wellspring of polyphenols, caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, myricetin, quercetin, and others. It is a good source of potent antioxidant having many health benefits.
