Glucosamine is a consistently occurring molecule present in your body and classified chemically as an amino sugar. This molecule acts as a building block for different operative molecules. Glucosamine can also be found in several non-human tissues as well as some animals, fungi, shellfish shells, etc. However, it is also one of the recommended dietary supplements obtained from such sources.

Product Use |
Glucosamine sulfate is a naturally occurring compound found in the fluid around joints, produced in the body by combining glucose and the amino acid glutamine. However, as people age, the body's production of glucosamine declines.
To supplement this decrease, glucosamine sulfate is derived from the outer shells of shellfish such as shrimp, lobster, and crab. The extraction process involves deacetylation, where chitin—the primary component of shellfish shells—is chemically converted into glucosamine. This glucosamine is then purified and processed into glucosamine sulfate, available in powder or capsule form.
