Lactobacillus acidophilus is a type of probiotic bacteria commonly found in dairy products, such as yogurt and kefir. It can also be naturally present in the human gastrointestinal tract. The production of Lactobacillus acidophilus typically involves the fermentation of milk using a starter culture of the bacteria. The resulting product is then freeze-dried and made into powder form for use in various applications.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also sourced from other fermented foods, such as sauerkraut and kimchi. However, the levels of the bacteria in these sources may not be as high as in dairy products.
