Commonly known as Chilean wineberry that belongs to the family Elaeocarpaceae and grows in temperate rainforests. This species is native to South America and southern Argentina. Cyanidin and delphinidin like anthocyanin and Polyphenols are major active constituents of Maqui-berry. It is a good source of powerful antioxidants that reduce the harmful effect of unstabilized free radicles. Anthocyanin help to rebuild our gut microbiota, so it is good for our gut health. Intake of these berries is very nutritious for the body because it is rich in lots of vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate, Thiamine, Niacin, Pyridoxine, Pantothenic acid, and Riboflavin and minerals which are essential for the cells.
