Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP) is an inorganic compound composed of potassium, phosphorus, and oxygen. It is a highly soluble fertilizer and can be derived both from natural and synthetic sources. The primary methods for producing MKP are through chemical reactions involving phosphate rock and potassium compounds. The most common method for producing monopotassium phosphate is through the wet process, where phosphoric acid reacts with potassium hydroxide (KOH). In this method, phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) is first produced from phosphate rock.Monopotassium phosphate is widely used in various industries, especially in agriculture as a water-soluble fertilizer. It provides both potassium (K) and phosphorus (P), two essential nutrients for plant growth.
