Product Use |
Muira Puama is typically wild harvested from the Amazon rainforest, where the tree is endemic. It is important to ensure sustainable harvesting practices to prevent over exploitation and damage to the delicate ecosystem. The root bark and stem bark of Muira Puama are the most commonly used parts of the tree and are harvested when the plant is in bloom, which usually occurs in the rainy season (December to March).
The harvested bark is then dried and powdered, or used to make various extracts such as tinctures and teas. There are also some commercial plantations of Muira Puama, which are cultivated for sustainable production.
