It is a red alga that is also commonly known as dillisk or dilsk, sea lettuce flakes, creathnach and belongs to the family Palmariaceae. It is native to North America and Europe. It is highly nutritious. It is a good source of Vitamin A, C, and minerals like sodium, calcium, iodine, magnesium, Iron, Potassium, chlorine. This red alga is rich in protein and carbohydrates and fat. Dulse is a natural source of desmosterol. It also contains antioxidants that provide protection against free radicles. Consumption of dulse is good for Gut, Eye, Thyroid, blood circulation and nervous system health.
