Product Description

Sodium ascorbate is the sodium salt of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It has the chemical formula C6H7NaO6. This compound consists of ascorbate (the ionized form of ascorbic acid) combined with sodium. Sodium ascorbate occurs as a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder. It is used to supplement vitamin C intake, providing an easily absorbable form of this essential nutrient. Sodium ascorbate is commonly available in powder form. It is also used in various food products, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics due to its antioxidant properties.

Product Use

Production & Sourcing

Sodium Ascorbate, a salt derivative of Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C, undergoes production via the reaction between Ascorbic Acid and a mineral base, usually Sodium Hydroxide. This process yields Sodium Ascorbate, which is subsequently purified and transformed into a fine white powder.
Two primary sources contribute to Sodium Ascorbate: natural and synthetic. Natural sources encompass fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruits, berries, kiwi, mango, and papaya. In contrast, synthetic Sodium Ascorbate is manufactured in laboratory settings. Despite their different origins, both natural and synthetic Sodium Ascorbate varieties are considered nutritionally equivalent.
